Scott, Lindsey & Abigail
The family behind Honeybee Farms and Carlson K9's in Madisonville, Tennessee.
The family behind the farm
Scott, Lindsey and Abigail are building Honeybee Farms and Carlson K9's on their property in Monroe County, East Tennessee.
Abigail barrel races, Scott trains and competes with dogs, and Lindsey is a veterinarian and a graduate of Michigan State University. Horses and dogs are already part of their family life.
The property includes more than nine acres and an eight-stall horse barn. The horse and K9 programs are still being developed.
Thirty years in dog training
Scott has spent 30 years training police K9s, IGP and sport dogs, personal-protection dogs, and family companions. German Shepherds have always been his breed, and his training focuses on clear communication, sound temperament, and the needs of the individual dog.
For 28 of those years, Scott has been active in IGP clubs. He is a USCA-certified National-Level Helper and Teaching Helper, with advanced experience in working-dog development, helper work, and building the foundation dogs and handlers need before moving on.
Dog training is Scott's full-time work. He keeps the approach simple: understand the dog, earn trust, stay consistent, and teach the owner how to carry the work forward.

Veterinary medicine, horses and working dogs
Lindsey grew up on a hay and blueberry farm in West Michigan with horses, dogs and cats. She competed through 4-H and on the Arabian A circuit, then rode with Michigan State University's traveling varsity polo team.
She earned a bachelor's degree in animal science from Michigan State in 2009 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine there in 2013. She is USDA APHIS accredited, and her clinical work includes sedated orthopedic radiographs used in working-dog screening.
Outside the hospital, Lindsey trains and competes in IGP with German Shepherds. She and Scott met through mutual friends in the sport.
Lindsey's veterinary work is separate from any future services at Honeybee Farms or Carlson K9's.
